Easter: ‘Pietà’ was partially inspired by the famous sculpture of Michelangelo, depicting Mary holding the slain Jesus in her arms. This gripping work recalls three moments from her life: Mary holding the infant Jesus, the living Jesus and the crucified Jesus. Solo soprano, violin and expressive choir vocals stir the soul even more and merge artistry and meaning in a song that deserves a place in Christmas services, Holy Week and Lent and Marian festivals.

Easter: ‘Take this cup’ was uttered multiple times by Jesus, with different meanings. During the Last Supper with His disciples, it was a call to remember. And in Gethsemane it was a cry to God; an ultimate question if the pending suffering could be taken from Him. As the tension in this piece eases into peace, it reflects Jesus’ acceptance of His role as the Lamb Who was to be slain. A gripping song for Holy Week!
