Via Dolorosa (Ned)

Via Dolorosa (Ned)

Description

Easter: The Via Dolorosa, the name of the road that Jesus had to travel with the cross on his back to Golgotha, translated from Latin means The Way of Suffering. The song was written with the aim of capturing the tragedy of that way of suffering in a different narrative way. That is why a ballad approach was chosen, which sounds both tragic and compelling. The proclamation of the bridge to the chorus underlines the necessity of Good Friday again; this blood was for all of humanity! The tender endings of the choruses make the image personal again and again. It was for you and me. At the same time, it depicts the long road to Golgotha; Good Friday as the road to Easter.

In the Netherlands the song is often attributed to the group Sela, but their version is also a cover. The original is by Sandi Patty. (1991).
