Description

This song is based on a 4th century hymn, which in turn has been used extensively in the liturgy on Christmas Eve and Easter over the centuries. It is therefore a song that expresses a fragile expectation. With a familiar melody and the vocal parts in the foreground, the text points to the reverence that befits us in anticipation of the descent of Christ to Earth. Partly because of the reference to Jesus_x0092_ later work and His incarnation, the song is also regularly used in the celebration of the Lord's Supper. In the last verse, the wonder about the coming of Jesus may mingle with the wonder about the adoration by the angels. With empathy in the text, this song makes us realize the wonder of Christmas like few others!
