Collection: Black Gospel Series

With the release of the Good Tidings (Gospel Boulevard) project we are starting the 'Black Gospel Series'; a series in which we will feature songs in the true black gospel tradition.
Most noticeable differences in the way the scores look
- Mostly 3-part (SAT) with often a large role for soloist(s)
- Mostly English speaking
- Scores in a so-called 'Leadsheet' form: Voice parts on one staff and only chords for the accompaniment. (There are no written out piano parts available!)
“Traditional Black gospel is music written to express personal or communal beliefs about Christian living, but also (in terms of the various musical styles) to provide a Christian alternative to mainstream secular music. It is a form of Christian music and a subgenre of gospel music.”

Singing Black Gospel is fantastic! However, to perform this genre well requires the utmost skill from both conductor, choir and backing band. This makes the new 'Black Gospel Series' a great challenge!
